As the hype of the Facebook’s WhatsApp acquisition for a $19 billion is beginning to die down, the questions remain \u2013 what impact will this have on your business marketing strategies?<\/p>\n

Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends\u201d. WhatsApp is initially free to download and thereafter charges $0.99 fee per annum.<\/p>\n

The latter six words in their description are the key\u2026it’s all about \u201cstaying in touch with your friends\u201d.\u00a0 The opportunities available to the business world and marketers are not yet clear but what is evident is that WhatsApp have clearly committed to \u201cno ads, no games, no gimmicks\u201d since its inception.<\/p>\n

Ask your customers and you will find that they don’t overly care which technology delivers their messages, as long as they are delivered.\u00a0 Thus, the text messaging\/SMS messaging channel is set to remain a hugely popular, effective and lucrative way for marketers to connect with and grow their customer base.\u00a0 Similarly, marketers are solely interested in a low cost, well supported, reliable business messaging service, not the technology used to send and receive their messages.<\/p>\n
